MERI-TAUI artworks ("MERI-TAUI", "we", "us" or "our") operates the website meri-taui.com.au and its associated online store, customer services and product support features.

Our store is powered by Shopify. We may also use third-party services to manage payments, deliveries, product registration and customer support.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect personal information when you browse our website, purchase a product, create an account, register a product, request support or otherwise interact with MERI-TAUI.

We respect your privacy and aim to handle your information transparently and in accordance with applicable Australian privacy and consumer protection laws.

1. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with our services, we may collect:

  • Contact information: Name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses.

  • Order information: Products purchased, order numbers, payment status, purchase history, returns and refunds.

  • Payment information: Payment method and transaction details. Payments are processed through Shopify and authorised payment providers, which may process payment-card details.

  • Customer account information: Account identifiers, contact details, preferences and information associated with your account.

  • Product registration information: Product model, unique Piece ID or serial reference, purchase details, original delivery date, registration date and ownership information.

  • Warranty and customer support information: Product concerns, photographs, correspondence, claim assessments, repairs and resolutions.

  • Loyalty and referral information: Where these programmes are available, voucher identifiers, account ownership, eligibility, redemption and referral activity.

  • Website and device information: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, cookies, browsing activity and website interactions.

  • Marketing preferences: Your subscription choices, relevant consent records and unsubscribe requests.

We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary for our business operations and the services you choose to use.

2. How we collect information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you purchase products, register an account, submit forms or contact us.

  • Automatically through our website and its cookies and similar technologies.

  • Through Shopify and the payment, delivery and technical service providers supporting our store.

  • Through product registration or customer support services such as Dyrect, where used.

  • From other sources where permitted by applicable law and relevant to providing our services.

Some information is required to process purchases, arrange deliveries or investigate product claims. If essential information is not provided, we may be unable to complete the relevant service.

3. How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

  • Process payments and fulfil orders.

  • Arrange delivery and provide order updates.

  • Manage customer accounts.

  • Handle cancellations, returns and refunds.

  • Register products and administer voluntary warranty benefits.

  • Respond to customer enquiries and warranty claims.

  • Verify product ownership and maintain accurate service records.

  • Administer loyalty and referral programmes if they are activated.

  • Prevent fraud, duplicate claims, unauthorised account access and misuse of benefits.

  • Maintain and improve website performance, security and customer experience.

  • Send marketing communications where we have the necessary consent or another lawful basis.

  • Meet applicable accounting, tax, consumer protection and other legal obligations.

We do not require customers to consent to marketing simply to purchase a product, request customer support or register for a voluntary warranty.

4. Product registration and warranty management

MERI-TAUI may use Dyrect, a third-party product registration and warranty management service.

When customers register their products or submit warranty requests, relevant information may be collected and processed through Dyrect and MERI-TAUI's connected systems.

This information may include:

  • Customer name and contact information.

  • Product model and unique Piece ID.

  • Purchase and delivery details.

  • Registration and ownership information.

  • Warranty eligibility and expiry information.

  • Descriptions of product defects or concerns.

  • Supporting photographs and claim correspondence.

  • Repair, replacement or refund outcomes.

We use this information to administer voluntary warranty benefits, facilitate support, assess claims and maintain appropriate records.

Relevant details may be shared with authorised technical providers, repair service providers or delivery companies where reasonably required to resolve an issue.

Warranty registration is optional and does not replace or restrict rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Registering a product does not automatically subscribe the customer to promotional communications.

5. Customer accounts, loyalty and referral programmes

Where MERI-TAUI offers account-based loyalty or referral benefits, we may process information needed to manage them.

This may include:

  • Account identifiers.

  • Voucher and referral codes.

  • Product registration references.

  • Voucher ownership and transfer records.

  • Redemption dates and discount values.

  • Eligibility and fraud-prevention checks.

Information is used to validate benefits, prevent duplicate redemption and administer the relevant programme conditions.

We do not require customers to publicly disclose their personal information to share a referral invitation.

Programme-specific terms will be made available when the relevant programme is activated.

6. Marketing communications

MERI-TAUI may send promotional communications by email or other permitted channels when we have appropriate consent or another lawful basis.

These communications may include product launches, offers, collections and brand news.

Customers can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link included in the message or by contacting cs@meri-taui.com.au.

We will honour applicable unsubscribe requirements.

Unsubscribing from promotional communications does not prevent us from sending necessary messages relating to purchases, delivery, product registration, warranty claims or customer service.

7. Sharing personal information

We may disclose relevant information to trusted service providers where reasonably necessary for business operations.

These may include:

Service providers may process personal information under their own privacy policies and contractual arrangements.

We may also disclose information when required or authorised by law, or when you request or consent to a particular disclosure.

We do not treat product registration as consent to disclose customer information for unrelated marketing purposes.
